Dulce et Decorum Est Pro Patria Mori

Description

"Dulce et Decorum Est Pro Patria Mori" is a song originally composed and performed by Regina Spektor. First played in April 2006 and only played two more times shortly thereafter, the song is believed to have been written for the 2007 film Grace Is Gone starring John Cusack, which was released on 2007-12-07. For unknown reasons, the partnership with the film fell through, and the song was not featured in the film, though Regina did receive a thanks in the credits. It is unclear if the song was ever recorded, and it was never released.

Since the initial stretch of performances, the song is no longer played live.

Lyrics

After all, everything'd been said and done
I feel, I feel better now
Come away, lay your hands at rest and close your eyes
Say a prayer for those who've gone

It's hard, it's hard
It's hard, it's hard
To live, to live
To live, to live

It's hard, it's hard
It's hard, it's harder
Than it's ever been before
Things that used to comfort me
Don't comfort me anymore
After all, the children being born into
A time of searching for some glory
And the lie's still repeating through the years
Dulce et Decorum Est Pro Patria Mori

It's hard, it's hard
It's hard, it's hard
To live, to live
To live, to live

It's hard, it's hard
It's hard, it's harder
Than it's ever been before
Things that used to comfort me
Don't comfort me anymore

But you can't spend your whole life
Waiting for God to kiss you
You can't spend your whole life
Waiting for God to kiss you
Can't spend your whole life
Waiting for God to kiss you back

Come on, come on, come on, back

Kiss you back, kiss you back
Kiss you back, kiss you back
