"Better" is a song orginally composed, performed, recorded, and released by Regina Spektor. The song was first performed live on 2003-02-09 at Maxwell's in New Jersey. "Better" was performed five times in 2003 and twice in 2005 before becoming a regular feature in live setlists leading up to and after its official release.
"Better" was first released on the LP Begin to Hope on 2006-06-13. The song received two music videos: one released several months after the album was released on 2006-11-13, dubbed the "Alternative Version", and a second released to coincide with the single the following year.
"Better" was released as the third single from the album on 2007-08-28. This single featured two versions of the song: a recut verion entitled "Better (Radio Recut)" as well as a stripped down version without the same production effects called "Better (Piano and Voice)". Both of these versions would later be included on the deluxe vinyl release of Begin to Hope in 2009 and subsequent vinyl releases. Two live performances of "Better" were officially recorded and released on the LP Live in London released in 2010 and the LP Live on Soundstage, released in 2017.
